Mac OS X :: Go to Sleep FAST!
Posted: July 06, 2006

When it's time to put your Mac to sleep, you would normally close the lip to your laptop and wait up to 20 seconds for it to fall asleep. If you're in a hurry, however, and you through your laptop in your bag while the hard drive is still busy going to sleep, you run the risk of doing some damage (unlikely, but possible).

When you want to put your Mac to sleep fast, try pressing the eject key while holding down the Option and Command keys. Literally two seconds later, your laptop is sleeping like a baby.

Here are some other key combinations to help you with your power management:

- Control + Option + Command + Eject = Shut Down
- Control + Command + Eject = Restart
