Mac OS X :: Get Help Fast
Posted: May 15, 2006

There are lots of ways to get help when you have a problem or question about your Mac: AppleCare, a knowledgable friend, this site, Apple retail store's Genius Bar... the list is endless. The only problem with any of these is that it's somewhat limited because you have to rely on another person (different time zones and busy schedules are two factors that can pose a challenge getting quick results). So what's the alternative?

You probably already know what the solution is, but may not have used it. It's the built-in help feature. It's not just for Apple applications, but for anything you have installed on your Mac. It contains a ton of useful information on how to solve a problem you are having (or at least point you in the right direction). It's also a great tool for learning something new. Simply open up the help module of any application, and browse around. I bet you will find something new every time you do it!

To access the help module, go to the Help menu, as shown below:

Another (quicker) way to get there is to use Command+?. This works in most applications, but not all. Once you are there, begin your search (or just browse around).
