Safari :: Viewing the Status Bar
At first glance, the above screenshot looks like your standard safari browser window showing a page from Apple's web site. Upon closer inspection, however, you will notice that there is a new bar on display at the bottom of the window... the Safari Status Bar. What exactly does this bar do, and how can it help you? Simply put, it shows you the address of the link you are about to click on. Here is a closer look at the lower portion of the screenshot from above:
In this example, I am about to click on the link entitled "Music with a Mission". To ensure that this click will take me to a page I can trust, I will hover over the link long enough to verify the address in the Status Bar. Once I feel comfortable with the link, I simply click on it. This feature sure makes browsing safer! By default, the Status Bar is disabled. To turn on this feature, go to View | Show Status Bar (or press Command + /) |
