Spotlight :: Opening a Source Folder When searching for items in Spotlight, it can sometimes be a good idea to open the folder where the target file resides, not just the file itself. Maybe I search for a picture, and rather then opening the picture itself, I want to see what else exists in that same folder. Sure, you can click on "Show All" at the top of Spotlight, then the little information "i" button to find what the path is, then open a Finder window and browse to that directory... but that would take forever! A shorter (and MUCH quicker) way of accomplishing the same thing would be to hold down the Command button while you click on the file in Spotlight. This will NOT open the file itself, but the folder where it resides (also showing you all other files in that folder). |
