One of the biggest complaints that I hear regarding the iPod and iTunes is that the syncing process only occurs one way... Mac -> iPod. The problem with that is that if you lose your music on your Mac, or if you want to put your music on another machine from your iPod, it's impossible! That's because Apple structures the iPod in such a way that you can't just mount your iPod and copy the music to another location. They "encrypt" it to deter you from doing this.

A young (and talented!) college sophomore by the name of Whitney Young has developed a solution to help you work around this problem. He calls it "Senuti" (which happens to be iTunes spelled backwards). What this application does is reads the database file that is located on your iPod, and allows you to extract your music to copy it wherever you want.
